Terms of Use

The terms on which you may access and use medwiki.co.uk.

These Terms of Use ('Terms') govern your access to and use of the medwiki.co.uk website and any of its features, tools, or services (collectively, the 'Platform'), operated by Medwiki UK ('Medwiki', 'we', 'us' or 'our'). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

1. About Medwiki and the Nature of the Service

Medwiki is an AI-powered health information platform that provides trusted, expert-informed health education in simple language. The Platform is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.

Medwiki is a health information publisher and an AI-assisted educational platform. It is not a healthcare provider, does not practise medicine, and does not provide telemedicine, clinical, or diagnostic services.

2. Not Medical Advice

The content on the Platform — including AI-generated explanations, medicine information, disease and nutrient articles, and health-tool results — is provided for general information and education only. It does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and must not be relied upon as a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.

Always seek the advice of your doctor, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have about a medical condition or medicine. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you have read on the Platform.

If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 999 immediately or contact NHS 111. Do not use the Platform to seek help in an emergency.

3. Eligibility

The Platform is not directed at children under the age of 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use it. If you are between 13 and 17, you should use the Platform only with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult. By using the Platform, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Platform lawfully and only for its intended purpose. You must not:

  • Use the Platform in any way that breaches applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Platform, its servers, or any connected systems
  • Introduce malware or otherwise interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Platform
  • Use automated means (such as scraping or bots) to access or collect content without our permission
  • Misrepresent your identity, or submit another person's personal or health information without authorisation
  • Use the Platform or its content to provide medical advice to others, or for any commercial purpose, without our written consent
  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute Platform content except as permitted by these Terms

5. AI-Generated Content

Some features of the Platform are powered by artificial intelligence. AI-generated responses are produced automatically and may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content, and you should independently verify any information before relying on it. AI outputs do not constitute medical advice.

6. Prescription Uploads

Where the Platform allows you to upload a prescription for a plain-language explanation, you may upload only your own prescription, or that of a child for whom you are the parent or legal guardian and on whose behalf you consent to the processing of their health data. How we handle prescription data is described in our Privacy Policy. Any explanation generated is informational only and is not a substitute for the guidance of your prescriber or pharmacist.

7. User Submissions

If you submit questions, feedback, or other content to the Platform ('Submissions'), you are responsible for that content and confirm that you have the right to provide it. You grant Medwiki a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your Submissions to operate, maintain, and improve the Platform, including to generate responses and, in anonymised or aggregated form, to improve our services. You must not submit content that is unlawful or infringing, or that contains another person's personal data without their consent.

8. Intellectual Property

The Platform and its content — including text, graphics, logos, design, and software — are owned by or licensed to Medwiki and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may view and use the content for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Platform or its content without our prior written permission, except where such use is permitted by law.

9. Third-Party Links and Content

The Platform may contain links to, or content from, third-party websites and services. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those third parties. Links are provided for convenience only and do not imply endorsement. Your use of any third-party website is governed by its own terms and policies.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read the Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or representations of any kind, whether express or implied, regarding the Platform or its content, including as to accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you may have under applicable UK consumer protection law.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Medwiki shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on information obtained through the Platform. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales.

13. Changes to the Platform and These Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; when we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Platform after any change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the Platform, are governed by the law of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
